This work completes the pre-development work carried out at the beginning of the last century. The last 300 meters to the refuge were halted in 1913 by the war, and will now finally see the light of day, with opening scheduled for late summer 2025.
The 7.4 million euro project also includes the construction of a boulder-proof gallery to protect passengers and equipment from mountain hazards.
The aim is to make this emblematic destination even more accessible, in particular by reopening the route to mountaineers and giving access to the site to people with reduced mobility, by reducing the slope from 20% to a flat access, a major technical improvement. Trains already have PRM access.
The work includes the construction of complex engineering structures, adapted to a high mountain site. Teams adapt in real time to difficult weather conditions and the constraints of building structures at high altitude. Ancestral techniques are used to ensure the safety and durability of new constructions.
The company has also undertaken environmental efforts, using materials from the site itself and minimizing helicopter operations, opting instead for more environmentally-friendly solutions.

Renovation of Saint-Gervais station - 1.5M€. Summer 2022
Train replacement - 29M€. Commissioning in December 2022
Renovation of Bellevue station - €2m. Opening summer 2025
Nid d'Aigle project - 2.5M€ for the buildings and 5.5M€ for the track and engineering structures. Opening scheduled for summer 2026.
