Perched on the Mont-Blanc to 6725 feet above sea level, with a view overlooking the Mer de Glace and mythical Aiguille des Drus, the Grand Hotel du Montenvers is a place of history and authenticity. Built in 1880 to accommodate the first mountaineers and travelers who came to visit the Mer de Glace, it displays a sober granite façade, dotted by many small windows. It is inside these walls that the history and the soul of the place are revealed, the echoes of epic writers, mountaineers and adventures of the late nineteenth century that contributed to its legendary story.
The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc and the Maisons et Hôtels Sibuet label worked on the metamorphosis of the Montenvers site. The renovations began last fall. Since December 17, 2016, you're able to enjoy lunch at Le Panoramique Mer de Glace restaurant and since the beginning of July 2017 the rest of the site is open and welcomes you in this exceptional setting with the charm and conviviality of yesteryear.
After an extensive renovation by Maisons et Hotels Sibuet, the historical charm of the Grand Hôtel du Montenvers, as well as the "refuge" spirit seep into the unconscious of each visitor under the new name Terminal Neige - Refuge du Montenvers: inviting a place of sharing and authenticity.
The Refuge du Montenvers exudes old-fashioned charm in its 20 rooms. You will find individual rooms for a romantic experience, shared dormitories for groups of mountaineers, and private rooms that can accommodate 5 to 7 people for families or friends. Whatever your choice, the simplicity and the conviviality of the space will invite you to enjoy unforgettable moments, in a privileged setting, where serenity and comfort combine in perfect harmony.
The Montenvers Restaurant offers a mountain cuisine, highlighting the transalpine flavors... Snail cassolette of the Mont Blanc country, crust with morels, roast poultry or fondues signed by the master cheesemaker Boujon will please the Montenvers visitors.
Le Panoramique Mer de Glace restaurant, a bistro with a view, features French cuisine that invites you to rediscover regional flavours prepared in their cast-iron cocottes. Enjoy classics like the Savoyard hotpot, the Pela des Aravis or the grandmother’s roast chicken. A bit of sweet tooth? We offer mountain favorites like the Mer de Glace, a homemade ice cream cup or the classic Mont-Blanc with chestnut cream.
The Montenvers hikers and skiers of the Vallée Blanche can stop at the Bar des Glaciers, where snacks prepared with fresh, ingredients are proposed at any time of day. It’s a stop not to be missed before boarding the Montenvers train!
Terminal Neige - Refuge du Montenvers is the rendezvous not to be missed to live a breathtaking Montenvers experience without taking anything away from the authenticity and history of the place!

Dear customers and partners,
The lack of snow on the bottom portion of the Pierre à Ric, the heavy rainfall we have had over the past weeks and the varying temperatures have made this piste that allows skiers to ski down to Argentière particularly difficult to maintain.
The current temperatures don’t allow the snow cover to harden enough when it is groomed in the morning. Therefore, in order to maintain the opening of this track to the skiers during the day, our teams will ensure the grooming of the Pierre à Ric at the end of the day after the closure of the ski area.
We therefore inform all ski touring practitioners that the ascent of the Pierre a Ric will be prohibited between the closing time of the ski area and 9pm starting from Monday December 31st and until better snow conditions allow us to suspend this ban.
Thank you for your understanding. Happy skiing and visits on the domains of the Compagny du Mont Blanc group
